Originating from the Amazon basin in South America, giving it its name. This orchid grows in a fan-like habit and has soft leaves. Its blooms are large white flowers with purple striations along the throat, which open in the fall or winter and last for months.

Best grown out of direct sunlight in moderate light. C. amazonica requires a moderately moist environment and an intermediate to warm temperature. Never allow roots to dry completely between waterings, but do ensure proper air circulation.
