        Cochleanthes amazonica -Description- Originating from the Amazon basin in South America, giving it its name. This orchid grows in a fan-like habit and has soft leaves. Its blooms are large white flowers with purple striations along the throat, which open in the fall or winter and last for months. -Form- Potted in 2-3" -Type- Species in the Zygopetalum alliance -Age- Mature plants at blooming size, grown from seed. -Care- Best grown out of direct sunlight in moderate light. C. amazonica requires a moderately moist environment and an intermediate to warm temperature. Never allow roots to dry completely between waterings, but do ensure proper air circulation. -Temperature- Cool, 50-75°F / 10-24°C Cool to Intermediate, 55-80°F / 12-27°C Intermediate, 60-85°F / 15-30°C Intermediate to Warm, 60-90°F / 15-33°C Warm, 70-95°F / 21-35°C
